The initial seeds were sewn to establish Le Macchiole in 1983 when Eugenio Campolmi and his wife Cinzia Merli decided to pursue their dream of becoming winemakers in the town of Bolgheri just off the Etruscan coast. 40 years later, the winery has become renowned for its monovarietal, biodynamic wines that express the local territory through the purity of single varieties and its conscious attitude towards biodiversity and conservation of the natural landscape. The passions of Le Macchiole’s founders also extend to the local community, with their involvement in a number of projects that unite and celebrate wine, art, and history.
